Several giant corporations operating in Penang stepped up to do their bid in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic in Penang.
They contributed cash and kind donations to the state government.
Among them were the Toray Group (Malaysia), Boon Siew Honda and Solarvest Holdings Berhad.
The Toray Group led the initiative with a RM1 million donation followed by Boon Siew Honda presenting RM100,000 to Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow at his office.
Meanwhile Solarvest Holdings Berhad donated 2,000 oximeteres worth some RM52,000.
“We wish to record our gratitude and thanks to these corporations for their timely contribution,” said Chow.
Representing Toray Group (Malaysia) was Datuk Teh Hock Soon, the Toray chief representative in Malaysia cum Toray Industries (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd managing director.
Boon Siew Honda was represented by their managing director and chief executive office Yoshitaka Nakamura and chief sales and marketing officer Voon Yin Kong.
Solarvest was represented by their chief executive officer Chong Chun Shiong.
On hand to witness the CSR ceremony was Penang state exco for Welfare and Environment, Phee Boon Poh, state exco for Agrotech and Food Security, Rural Development and Health, Dr Norlela Ariffin, Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng and Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers Penang immediate past chairman Datuk Seri Ooi Eng Hock.
