The Sunway Medical Centre Penang (SMCP) is calling on members of the public to join the Elfy Run 4 You 2026, to be held on Nov 15, in a bid to encourage healthier and more active lifestyles.

The run aims to bring people of all ages together through movement, community and health awareness. Whether participants choose to run, jog or walk, the event encourages everyone to take that first step towards making physical activity a more regular part of their lives.

Sharin more details on the event at a press conference was Penang State Exco for Youth, Sports and Health, YB Daniel Gooi and a team from SMCP.

Gooi said that community events such as Elfy Run provide an accessible and enjoyable way for people to incorporate physical activity into their lifestyles.

“Elfy Run 4 You 2026 is more than just a running event. It is an opportunity for people of all ages to come together, get active and make healthy living part of their everyday lives. You do not need to be a professional runner; you can run, jog or walk. What matters is that you get moving.”

He also highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for young people and families to participate in sports and physical activities, adding that sports should not only be about competition, but also about health, well-being, participation and bringing people together.

In conjunction with Elfy Run 4 You 2026, SMCP is also incorporating preventive health awareness into the initiative through a free Faecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) screening programme for eligible members of the public.

FOBT is a non-invasive screening test that checks for hidden blood in stool, which can be associated with colorectal conditions. Through the initiative, SMCP hopes to encourage more members of the community to take a proactive approach towards their health and understand the importance of appropriate screening.

As part of this initiative, SMCP is also providing 1,500 free FOBT screenings to eligible members of the public by 31 October 2026. At the heart of this initiative is simply the opportunity to give: to make screening more accessible, help people take a proactive step towards their health, and encourage earlier detection.

“At Sunway Medical Centre Penang, we believe that improving health is not only about treating illness when it happens. It is also about encouraging people to take care of themselves earlier, through an active lifestyle, greater health awareness and appropriate screening. Ultimately, Elfy Run 4 You is about moving together and taking better care of ourselves together”, said SMCP head of business development and corporate communication Ms Abbey Ong, who is also the event chairperson.

The hospital is encouraging members of the public to gather their families, friends and colleagues and make 15 November 2026 a day to get moving and celebrate health together.
