The Bukit Jambul Complex (KBJ) hosted a joyous and meaningful Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, bringing together distinguished guests, business leaders, shoppers and community members in an atmosphere of warmth and gratitude recently.
The event was honoured by the presence of His Excellency Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, Governor of Penang, and Her Ladyship Toh Puan Dato’ Seri Utama Khadijah Mohd Nor, whose attendance was deeply appreciated by all.
In his welcoming remarks, Dato’ KH Chan, Chairman of Bukit Jambul Complex, expressed his heartfelt thanks to everyone present and to all of KBJ’s partners, emphasizing the importance of family spirit, togetherness, and the ongoing support KBJ has enjoyed.

“We are truly grateful for the unwavering support of our partners and the wider community. In the face of global economic uncertainty—such as recent tariff policies introduced by former U.S. President Donald Trump—our top priority remains protecting and assisting our small traders, especially Bumiputera entrepreneurs under KBJ’s umbrella,” he said.
Chan also acknowledged the economic challenges posed by the COVID‐ 19 pandemic, during which KBJ granted rent waivers totaling RM 1.5 million, and he thanked former Exco for Trade and Entrepreneurial Development Dato’ Seri Abdul Halim Hussain for his collaboration on those relief measures. He called for continued cooperation to support micro‐ enterprises and SMEs, and humorously hoped that state EXCO members would be ready to assist again if tougher times lie ahead.
In the spirit of Eid, KBJ welcomed orphans from the Penang Islamic Orphans Welfare Federation, presenting each child with a duit raya gift. MYDIN also sponsored commemorative gift bags and RM100 MYDIN cash vouchers as part of its annual tradition.

Chan paid special tribute to the contributions of the Governor and his Lady in areas of education, environment and welfare:
• Donating smart boards to 184 schools and educational assistance to over 50,000 students.
• Launching the “One Day, One Community, One Million Trees” programme, now recorded in the Malaysia Book of Records.
• Coordinating the 2024 Grand Qurban Initiative across more than 200 mosques and 25 suraus throughout Penang.
He also celebrated Toh Puan Dato’ Seri Utama Khadijah binti Mohd Nor’s generosity in providing new Raya outfits and duit raya to the orphans at KBJ—a gesture made possible by the support of Datin Jamiza. In recognition of KBJ’s ongoing welfare efforts, the complex was recently awarded “Most Charitable Shopping Centre” by YB A. Kumaresan.
Guests enjoyed a variety of special Raya delicacies and cultural performances, and a fashion show sponsored by local boutiques including Ronna Rnt, Mahakarya, Shasha’s Collection and Trisiswanto. KBJ also unveiled an exciting promotion: shoppers have the chance to win an electric car sponsored by Dato’ Seri Syed Mohamad Aidid as part of the ongoing KBJ Customer Rewards
programme.
“We’re proud to be more than just a shopping centre—KBJ is a hub of community, culture and compassion. On behalf of the management, I wish everyone a blessed Hari Raya Aidilfitri and seek your forgiveness for any shortcomings,” said Chan.
