YB Jagdeep with the children at Ramakrishna Hall

Some 150 children from the underprivileged community took part in a 2-day badminton tournament held at the Dewan Ramakrishna Ashrama over the weekend.
State Exco for Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning YB Jagdeep Singh Deo launched the YB Jagdeep Singh Deo Badminton Charity Cup 2023 which caters for children from the B40 community here.
The tournament was organised by CPS Badminton Academy led by Tan Beng Ghee who is the organising chairman.
“It is heartwarming to see these children eager to take part in this competition. You are the future talents for this sport in the country.
“I wish you the best to do well in this tournament,” said Jagdeep.
He also contributed RM1,000 each to the Ramakrishna Home and Wisma Yatim Pulau Pinang.
The children were also presented with a school bag, face mask, T-shirts and a certificate of participation.
Jagdeep also joined the celebration for three of the children’s birthday with a cake cutting ceremony.
Meanwhile, Tan said that they have been organising the tournament for the past five years and the response has been increasing every year.
Winners in the tournament were presented with a cash award, trophy and sports equipment.
