Due to the rapid rise in Covid-19 cases in Penang, the state assemblymen for Paya Terubong, Yeoh Soon Hin is taking the lead to register names of individuals for vaccinations.
The compilation initiative is aimed at expediting Covid-19 vaccination appointments, for those who have yet to receive their appointment dates despite having registered in February and March 2021.
“This initiative has gained overwhelming responses ever since its announcement on Friday (July 30) and todate has some 5,000 responses in less than two days.
“The pandemic situation in Penang is alarming and has surpassed 700 daily infection cases in July itself. On top of that, Paya Terubong is also amongst the hotspots of the virus outbreak.
“Hence, the compilation of name list for those who have registered for Covid-19 vaccination in February and March but have yet to receive their appointments, is a much needed initiative,” he added. ” said Yeoh in a press statement.
He added that according to the data presented by the Penang State Health Department on July 31. 2021, more than 66% of patients among the first 4 categories of newly infected cases have not been vaccinated.
“This proves that vaccinations are effective in battling the pandemic. Hence, we have rapidly introduced this compilation initiative via Google Form, to compile names to be submitted to the Penang State Health Department and the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force,” he added.
He also added that he has deployed teams to sanitise crowded residential areas and will be organising mass Covid-19 swab tests to break the infection chain and avoid community infection.
Constituents of Paya Terubong who have yet to receive their vaccination appointments can visit https://forms.gle/qdHNqoboeJea9ef98 to fill in the form, which will be compiled and submitted to the relevant authorities for an expedited vaccination appointment.
