Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow officiated the opening of the second AEM plant in Perai Industrial Zone yesterday.
Also present was AEM Chief Executive Officer Candran Nair along with the State Exco for Entrepreneurial Development, Trade and Industry Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain, Chief Minister’s special investment adviser Datuk Seri Lee Kah Choon, InvestPenang chief executive officer Datuk Loo Lee Lian, and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) (investment development) deputy chief executive officer Lim Bee Vian.
Nair also revealed that the company had made a record revenue of SGD$747 million.in the first nine months of 2022.
He also added that the new plant will tap into the region’s growth opportunities and talents and bring its operations closer to existing and new customers.
Meanwhile, Chow expressed his contentment that AEM had chosen Penang for its second plant which will also offer job opportunities to locals.
The move will lend credence to Penang which is already known as the “Silicon Valley of the East”.
