Members of the public can now report issues pertaining to rubbish collection, potholes, clogged drains and other related issues to their local council through a new application.
ACTnow is the social enterprise platform to connect the local authorities and members of the public in order to build better communities.
They signed a collaboration with Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) to help the community and realize a better quality of life for the general public.
Lending support to the collaboration signing ceremony was State Exco for Housing, Local Government and Town and Country Planning, Jagdeep Singh Deo held at the Penang Digital Library.
Also present was the chief executive officer of ACTnow, Melvin Lam, MUDA Penang State chairperson, Jazz Tan along with MUDA national vice president, Dr Teo Lee Ken.
“I commend this move to take care of community issues via this app, however, Penang leads in the use of smart technology as we have 102 smart initiatives launched by the state. We are No 1 in the whole of Malaysia when it comes to smart initiatives.
“This synergy between young and old should bear benefits to the general public,” added Jagdeep.
The application is free and is aimed to protect and serve the public interests.
The initiative represents the first of its kind community project which involves the entire state.
Issues pertaining to trimming of trees, missing manhole covers, damaged sign boards, faulty traffic lights, illegal dumping, abandoned cars and the like can also be reported.
The multilingual app is also connected to 155 local councils.
Members of the public are encouraged to download the application and report common issues faced.
