Wong at her book launch at the St Giles-Wembley hotel last Saturday

Wendy Wong is a mother, teacher cum food blogger.

She recently shared her personal life experiences on the pain of losing not one but two kids in her book which was launched recently.

The book traces her despair and sadness of losing her children at a very young age.

More importantly, it also serves to motivate and bring strength to those going through similar experiences in their life journeys.

“I wanted to share my personal experience when I lost my first child 10 years ago. Later my second child also had complications and her heart stopped,” said a visibly distraught Wendy when sharing her journey at the book launch ceremony.

She also added that hailing from Sarawak, she did not have any family network support here and she also did not want to bother them since they are so far away.

To add to her challenges, her third kid was also diagnosed with leukemia and went into treatment for long periods. She had to juggle her work, household duties and other commitments all at one go.

“My advice is that we should not lose hope and with modern medicine there is a good chance of recovery. Please do not give up,” she added.

Lending support at the book launch was friends and well-wishers in the ceremony held at the St Giles – Wembley Hotel here.

Wendy added that children can understand everything if we share with them about the dos and don’ts.

“They learn quickly to take care of themselves and they can have a bright future,” shared Wendy.

She now hopes that she can help parents who are in a similar situation.

“From the proceeds of the book sale, my wish is to share my experience and also help other parents and the Penang General Hospital. I also want to do counseling by visiting cancer wards to help them too,” said Wendy.

She also paid due credit to her nanny and other strong supporters who had stood by her in troubled times.

Her book, which is in Mandarin, is priced at RM58. Call Wendy at 012-554-6660 for more information or to support her mission in life.
