Thinking out of the box to resolve matters affecting the hospitality industry, the Malaysian Association of Hotels Kedah/Perlis Chapter entered into a partnership with the Kedah Education Department to overcome staff shortage.
Touted to be the first of its kind in the country, MAH Kedah/Perlis will help train students from the school with special needs in Merbok, Kedah.
Present at the signing ceremony at the Star City Hotel in Alor Star here was MAH Kedah/Perlis chairman Eugene Dass and State Education Director, Rozaini Ahmad.
Also in attendance was Adya Langkawi general manager, Razmi Rahmat (MAH Kedah/Perlis vice chairman) and Reginald T Pereira ( Hon Secretary / CEO Tanjung Rhu Resort Langkawi).
“This is a first collaboration with MAH Kedah/Perlis Chapter and the Kedah State Education Department for our mutual benefit. This will be a “win win” situation for both parties,” said Dass in his opening address.
He also added that MAH Kedah/Perlis will help train and mould these students to suit to the hospitality industry.
Meanwhile, Rozaini commended MAH Kedah/Perlis for coming up with the strategic partnership for the good of the special children.
“Many of the children are slow learners but can be trained to be self-sufficient and be accepted in the community,” he added.
Lending support at the occasion were several hotel general managers from Sungai Petani and Alor Star along State Deputy Education Director Mokhtar Ahmad.
