In their continuous effort to nurture local talents in the tourism and hospitality industry, Plenitude Berhad has established a partnership with Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed recently.
The collaboration will see Plenitude creating opportunities to exchange industry knowledge among employees and students at strategic and working levels.
This is in line with Plenitude’s mission to care for people, communities and the environment under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to deliver optimal Economic Sustainability, Environmental Sustainability, and Social Sustainability (EES) practices.
“As a young talent-oriented corporation, we are committed to preparing Malaysia’s youth to thrive in the complex and ever-changing future with the fundamental transformation of the higher education system. This is also aligned with the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015-2025 to foster future talents with industry-relevant skills and knowledge, in the best interest of driving towards a high-income nation for the country,” said Hashimah Ismail, Plenitude Director.
Under the MOU, students from TAR UC can gain insights into industry-relevant skills and knowledge through the collective scope of Industry Knowledge and Job Placement. Plenitude is entrusted to take on a crucial role as a key industrial partner to TAR UC to share industry knowledge in the form of guest lectures, hotel visitations, workshops, and co-development of academic syllabi. Plenitude will also work closely with the establishment to facilitate undergraduates with greater opportunities to further their career development at Plenitude’s local and international hotels, properties and other business divisions.
“At Plenitude, we always believe that quality education is the key driver for transformation. The MOU with TAR UC is a great opportunity for us to provide access for students to strengthen their ability and gain exposure in the corporate world, which helps them graduate with sufficient technical competencies and professional skills that allow them to be able to contribute positively to the growth and development of the nation. Moving forward, we will continue to explore ways that could benefit the youth and the future workforce, this includes new talent development programmes and initiatives that are in the pipeline,” added Hashimah.
Education is one of Plenitude’s key sustainability pillars. Prior to this MOU, Plenitude has been offering scholarships to underprivileged students through the “Plenitude Scholarship” programme, which comes in the form of financial aid to support scholars’ academic fees and living expenses.
As of to-date, Plenitude has awarded the scholarship to two students from TAR UC who are undergoing the Bachelor of Hospitality Management (Honours) degree programme. Furthermore, Plenitude’s Talent Development Program is part of a succession planning initiative to help identify potential employees, in efforts to provide career growth through training to close the skillsets gaps and guide individuals to achieve their full potential within Plenitude.
