The Sunway Group hosted its Media Night 2026 at Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya, bringing together about 80 media practitioners from across the Northern Region for an evening of appreciation, fellowship and fun.
Held at the hotel’s elegant Sri Cengal Ballroom, the gathering featured a lively polka dots theme, with guests enthusiastically dressing up for the occasion and adding a splash of colour to the evening.
Media representatives were warmly welcomed by the Sunway Group team from Kuala Lumpur, together with representatives from Sunway Medical Centre Penang, Sunway Carnival Mall, Sunway Property, Sunway Hotel Georgetown and Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya.
Among those present were Ong Pang Yen, Executive Director, Chairman’s Office, Sunway Group; Hotel Manager P. Nagaswaran; Sunway Carnival Mall Senior General Manager Chai Wen Yew; Sunway Medical Centre Penang Chief Executive Officer Ms Christine Lee; Fong Choon Fuoi from Sunway Property Penang and their respective teams.
In his welcome address, Ong expressed his appreciation to members of the media for their unwavering support over the years.
“It has been seven years since we last hosted a media gathering in the Northern Region. The media landscape has evolved significantly, with AI enabling almost anyone to create content. More than ever, credibility and the ability to distinguish facts from rumours remain essential,” he said.
Ong also shared that Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya is expected to relocate to its new premises within Sunway Carnival Mall next year, marking another milestone in the group’s continued growth in the region.
Guests were treated to a sumptuous dinner while enjoying live musical performances and an interactive quiz session. The excitement continued with a lucky draw, where every media guest walked away with a prize.
The prizes included admission vouchers to Lost World of Tambun in Ipoh and Sunway Lagoon in Kuala Lumpur, staycation vouchers for Lost World of Tambun, The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat and Sunway Putra Hotel, along with many other attractive gifts.
With delicious food, lively entertainment and generous prizes, the evening concluded on a high note, leaving guests with fond memories, broad smiles and a renewed sense of camaraderie between Sunway Group and the Northern media fraternity.
