Penang Adventist Hospital through its Charity Green Parade raised a whopping sum of RM407, 521 for their Dr. J. Earl Gardner Fund last Sunday.

Some 2,000 participants took part in the Charity Green Parade 2.0.

The atmosphere took on a vibrant “sea of green” as the event returned with renewed energy and purpose to support patients requiring major medical surgeries.

This year’s parade embraced the theme “High Five for A Healthier Mind,” shining a spotlight on the importance of mental well-being alongside physical health, bringing together individuals, families, and corporate teams in support of a healthier community.

Held at Gurney Plaza, the parade flagged off at 7am from the Alfresco area with an energetic marching band leading the way. A total of 24 group flag-offs, with over 2000 participants, ensured a smooth flow as participants moved together in high spirits.

The scenic route took participants up the Gurney Bridge, where they made a U-turn before heading back towards Gurney Plaza, offering a refreshing coastal experience. Each participant was given a signature green foam hand, symbolizing unity and the spirit of a collective “high five.” Along the route, theme boards spelling N.E.W S.T.A.R.T were displayed, representing key elements of healthy living.

“Charity Green Parade 2.0 is more than just a fundraising event – it is a movement that brings people together to support one another’s physical and mental well-being. “Each step taken, each smile exchanged, and more importantly, each high five shared reflects as a community, we are willing to show up for one another.” said Ronald Koh, Group President of Penang Adventist Hospital.

Now in its second year, the Charity Green Parade continues to grow as part of a three-year initiative, with each edition featuring a unique theme. This year’s medal complements the 2025 design, forming a “G” that symbolizes generosity, growth, and giving.

Beyond the parade, participants enjoyed a wide range of health-focused engaging activities. Highlights include health screenings by Penang Adventist Hospital Community Health Department, mental health awareness initiatives, fitness sessions, along with shoulder massages, complimentary drinks, and buns. The event also featured stage performances, lucky draws, interactive booths, a photobooth for participants to capture memorable moments and goodie bags, adding to the overall experience.

Charity Green Parade 2.0 stands as a powerful reminder that when a community comes together – even a simple gesture like a “high five” can spark hope, promote healing and change lives.
