The Malaysia Gold & Jewellery Trade Exhibition (MGJE) 2026 returns for its 4th edition at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre from May 8 to 10, 2026.
Present to announce the glittering showcase at a press conference was State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai along with Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau Chief Executive Office Ashwin Gunasekeran.
This year’s gathering will introduce Al Innovation and witness the Launch of Southeast Asia Gold Trading Platform. Participants from more than 30 countries are expected in the event.
Also present was Dato Chiah Hock Yew, president of Federation of Goldsmiths and Jewellers Association of Malaysia, Law Chin Hok, organising chairman, Poon Wai Kit, president of Province Wellesley Gold & Silver Ornament Merchants Association among others.
In his opening speech Wong expressed his pleasure to officially announce the Malaysia Gold & Jewellery Trade Exhibition 2026 (MGJE 2026).
“This prestigious exhibition will bring together leading industry players from across Malaysia and around the world, showcasing the brilliance and dynamism of Malaysia’s gold and jewellery sector.
“Over the years, the Malaysia Gold & Jewellery Trade Exhibition has evolved into a globally recognised trade platform, attracting exhibitors and buyers from over 30 countries. It represents a comprehensive industry ecosystem, covering the entire gold and jewellery supply chain — from raw materials, machinery, and software solutions, to finished jewellery and innovative packaging,” said Wong.

.He also added that the global gold trade landscape is undergoing a period of transformation. Yet, within every challenge lies opportunity. For Malaysia’s gold industry, this is a critical moment to assess the situation and seize emerging opportunities.
“The industry players in Malaysia should capitalise on the restructuring of global supply chains by expanding market reach, strengthening regional positioning, and enhancing their role within the international gold trade ecosystem, positioning themselves to move up the value chain and capture new growth.
“As global trade patterns evolve, Penang stands at a strategic crossroads, well-positioned to capitalise on these emerging opportunities. As one of Malaysia’s key gateways to the world, Penang offers robust infrastructure, a mature industrial ecosystem, and strong regional and international connectivity.
Meanwhile, Ashwin said that Over the years, we have witnessed the remarkable evolution of this exhibition, from its earlier beginnings as the PWGS Trade Fair to what is now the Malaysia Gold & Jewellery Trade Exhibition.
“This transformation is a reflection not only of the industry’s growth, but also of the organisers’ dedication to continuous improvement, innovation, and internationalisation.
“Today, MGJE 2026 marks an important milestone, featuring over 150 exhibitors and welcoming trade visitors and buyers from more than 30 countries. This makes it one of the most internationally diverse jewellery trade exhibitions in the region, and a clear testament to the global industry’s confidence in Penang as a premier business events destination.
