The all new Tesla Model Y L had its launch ceremony in Gurney Plaza earlier today, drawing strong crowds and attention as curious onlookers and potential buyers gathered to get a first-hand look at Tesla’s latest offering.

The showcase turned into a lively scene, with many visitors forming queues to explore the vehicle’s spacious three-row interior, futuristic dashboard and signature minimalist design.

The Model Y L marks Tesla’s first 6-seater configuration in Malaysia, offering a longer wheelbase and enhanced practicality compared to the standard Model Y. It is positioned as a premium electric SUV, with a starting price of around RM260,000 and can rise to approximately RM300,000+ depending on optional upgrades and features.

Among available colours are – Stealth Grey (standard), Pearl White Multi-Coat, Diamond Black, Glacier Blue, Ultra Red and Cosmic Silver.

Interior options include a standard black cabin, with an optional Zen Grey interior upgrade for a more refined look

As a fully battery-powered vehicle, the Model Y L is equipped with a long-range battery (estimated around 82 kWh) paired with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system. It delivers:

  • Up to 681 km driving range (WLTP)
  • 0–100 km/h in ~5 seconds
  • Fast charging capability of up to 250 kW, enabling significant range recovery in minutes

This highlights Tesla’s focus on combining performance with efficiency, making long-distance electric driving more practical than ever.

The introduction of the Model Y L aligns with the broader push towards green energy and sustainable mobility in Malaysia. As an electric vehicle (EV), it produces zero tailpipe emissions, helping to reduce urban air pollution and dependence on fossil fuels.

Tesla’s ecosystem also supports the use of renewable energy, as owners can pair their vehicles with home solar systems and battery storage solutions, enabling cleaner energy usage from generation to driving. Additionally, fast-growing EV charging infrastructure, including Tesla’s Supercharger network supports the transition to low-carbon transportation.
