Members of the Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (MACEOS) were in Penang recently in conjunction with BE@Penang 2025 at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre here recently.

They were led by their president Datuk Dr. M. Gandhi and his committee members.

They also hosted a networking session with delegates of the BE@Penang at the same premises to get to know and recruit new members too.

Established in 1990, MACEOS was formed to enhance and uphold the standards of Malaysia’s meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry and to drive growth in a sector that contributes significantly to the nation’s economy.

The association stands at the forefront of Malaysia’s business events sector, representing a broad spectrum of industry players, from professional conference and exhibition organisers to venue operators, event management companies and allied service providers.

MACEOS plays a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of conventions, exhibitions, meetings and related activities. Guided by its Innovation, Development, Education and Advocacy framework, the association promotes sustainable and strategic advancement for the industry’s stakeholders.

MACEOS serves as the unified voice for Malaysia’s business events community. It represents industry interests in discussions with government agencies, quasi-government bodies, media, and international associations. Through advocacy, MACEOS works to ensure that policy and regulatory environments are conducive to event growth and that the economic value of business events is recognized at national and international levels.

One of the association’s foundational objectives is to encourage high ethical standards and professionalism among its members. By fostering fair trade practices and cooperation across the industry, MACEOS helps elevate the quality and credibility of event organisers and suppliers in Malaysia.

MACEOS actively promotes Malaysia as a preferred destination for business events both regionally and globally. It collaborates with partners such as the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and participates in trade missions and international forums to attract major conferences, conventions and exhibitions to the country. Its efforts help stimulate economic activity in secondary cities like Kuching, Penang, Johor Bahru and Kota Kinabalu.

To showcase excellence within the industry, MACEOS organises key events such as the Malaysia Business Events Awards (MBEA)—a premier platform honouring outstanding achievements across exhibitions, meetings, and conferences. These initiatives not only spotlight industry leaders but also promote innovation, creativity and impact in business events.

With an evolving global events landscape shaped by technology, sustainability and regional collaboration, MACEOS remains committed to guiding Malaysia’s business events industry toward innovation and long-term growth. Through strategic planning, education, advocacy and partnerships, the association is a key catalyst in enhancing the nation’s reputation as a vibrant hub for world-class conventions, exhibitions and meetings.
