The highly popular Malaysia International Miniature Hobby Show 2025 showcase got underway at the St Giles Wembley Hotel here over the weekend.

It is also the biggest showcase for hobbyists in South East Asia.

Participants from 25 countries are taking part in the gathering. Among them are from China, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, UK, USA, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam to name a few.

State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai was on hand to launch the event.

Also present was the Consul General of Japan in Penang HE. Mr Machida Shinya, Dr Annuar Mohamed (Penang MOTAC) director, Ashwin Gunasekeran, chief executive officer of PCEB, along with Choo Huang Ming, Founder of  World Hobby Miniatures among others.

In his address, Wong hailed the showcase as being among the Top 5 in the world on par with other international shows. This show stands among those like the Moson Model Show Challenge in Hungary, Scale Moson Challenge in Netherlands, Model World Saga in Guangzhou, China and Japan’s Shizuoka Hobby Show

“Today, we will also see the innovative collaboration of Kenny Loh Costume and Toy Resources to present the Kebaya Action Figure Dolls. This is not just a model creation but a demonstration of cultural innovation,” added Wong.

He later took time to tour the various booths and also meet the participants and exhibitors too.

With the growing number of visitors and exhibitors at the showcase, organisers plan to hold the gathering at a much bigger venue next year.
