The majestic looking Polish Airlines Boeing 787-9 was waiting at the tarmac of the Langkawi International Airport to transport returning guests to Warsaw recently.
The wide-body plane can carry a maximum of 296 passengers.
The tourism initiative is a collaboration between Tourism Malaysia (TM) and the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA).
The chartered flight by PolishAirlines was from Warsaw, Poland to Langkawi commenced Oct 28, 2024.
The Polish tourists normally spend a week or two on the enchanting island at hotels and resorts to soak in the sun, sea, local food and cultures too.
This flight is operated on a weekly basis – every Sunday from Warsaw until May 2025 and is expected to attract 4,000 tourists from Poland throughout the flight schedule.
Penang Hyperlocal learnt that many of these Polish tourists stay at the Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa Langkawi during their vacation here while others find accommodation in the various beach resorts too.
