Fancy Sri Lankan food ?
The only diner in Penang serving authentic Sri Lankan food is 64 China Street in the heart of Georgetown.
The cuisine is known for its combinations of herbs, spices, fish, vegetables, rices and fruits as well as coconut.
Among their popular dishes are Chicken Kottu, Mutton Curry, Deviled Curry, Pol Coconut Roti, Biryani String Hoppers.
Owner and chef Sam Perera along with his Filipino wife Gypsy are the people behind the eatery.
According to Sam, the preparation of Sri Lankan dishes include slow cooking and a lot of patience.
“We also use a lot of spices and herbs to bring out the different taste and flavours.
“Hailing from Sri Lanka, I am familiar with authentic dishes and their preparation techniques”, said Sam.
They also offer a range of Filipino dishes, namely Adobo, Sinisang, Kare-Kare, Caldereta and Tapsilog. This is where his wife Gypsy comes in with the preparation.
Being an experienced entertainer, Gypsy also performs at the diner upon request. She renders chart toppers, oldies and evergreen hits.
For those who go for Western food, they also offer Burgers, Fish & Chips, Bolognese, Club sandwich and Mushroom soup.
As for drinks, they also offer a range of beer, wine, cocktails and whisky selection for their happy hours and throughout the night.
To unwind with your drinks, they have TV screens to follow your favorite sports and other programmes. For guests wanting a private gathering for birthdays and corporate events, they can cater for 20 to 30 pax on their second upper floor with karaoke facilities.
