The Hard Rock Cafe’s Rock Shop @ George Town was officially launched with much fanfare and celebration yesterday evening.
The opening allows local and foreign guests the convenience of purchasing their favourite Hard Rock memorabilia in the heart of the city centre.
Present at the colourful ceremony was State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai accompanied by Hard Rock Hotel Penang general manager Michael Smeeton.
Also present was Penang Global Tourism’s chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan and Tobias Lackermeier.
In his address, Wong extended his congratulations to the Hard Rock Hotel team on the launch of the Rock Shop.
“The opening of the Rock Shop marks a significant moment for the Hard Rock Brand, celebrating the blending of historical charm and contemporary vibrancy in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed George Town.
“Being one of the most globally recognised companies, with venues in over 70 countries , Hard Rock is among the World’s Best Employers noted for its support for women and diversity.
“I wish the Rock Shop George Town great success”, added Wong who later made a short tour of the outlet.
In keeping with Hard Rock customary fashion, Wong joined Smeeton to smash two electric guitars to mark the opening.
Among the favourites are Mens/Womens/Kids T-shirts, key chains, bandanas, mugs, leather jackets, caps, hoodies, pins, lanyards and other accessories.
Guests were also treated to some fine refreshments and a round of lucky draws offering attractive prizes.
Operating hours for the Rock Shop is from 11am to 7pm.
