The recognition highlights the resorts’ commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.
For the eighth consecutive year, Shangri-La Rasa Sayang has been acknowledged for its outstanding efforts in promoting eco-friendly initiatives, while Shangri-La Golden Sands has received this prestigious award for the first time.
The ASEAN Green Hotel Award is one of the six ASEAN Tourism Standards essential to establishing ASEAN as a world-class, quality destination.
It encompasses ten member countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines.
The standard aims to enhance energy efficiency and environmentally friendly practices in the ASEAN region by promoting green products, human resources, and environmental management. This collective approach to operational professionalism benefits both communities and the environment.
“We are extremely pleased to be continuously recognised by the ASEAN Green Hotel Standard, not only for one but for two resorts in Penang,” said Suleiman Tunku Abdul Rahman, Director of Communications.
“Shangri-La Group prides itself on being an ECG-focused business, aiming to bring our guests the colourful joys of life while protecting the environment and making a positive impact together. This recognition further strengthens our motivation to operate on a greener path, benefiting all our guests, colleagues, and the community.” he added.
