In keeping with the slogan of “Penang Leads”, the Penang state government has installed more than 700 units of automated external defibrillators (AED) all over the state.
This is the highest number of AED units compared with the various states in the country. They are located in private and public locations in the state.
One such initiative was the installation of an AED unit at the Sri Ramar Temple along Solok York here earlier this morning.
Present at the ceremony was Penang Deputy Chief Minister II, YB Jagdeep Singh Deo along with State Exco for Youth, Sports and Health, YB Daniel Gooi.
Also present was Christopher Barnabas, president of Zoll and members of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and temple officials.
“We will always ensure the safety and health of the public with the installation of these AED units. They have been installed throughout the state.
“There are more than 700 units in the state for the safety of the public and we will continue with more such installations including places of worship in 2024.
“These initiatives will help save lives as we prioritise the lives of the people,” said Jagdeep.
Meanwhile, Gooi thanked Jagdeep for taking time to attend the programme and added that members of the public in the vicinity of the temple can also utilise the AED in times of an emergency.
“We will also educate more members of the public to use these devices to save lives, ” he added.
The ceremony also saw a demonstration on the proper use of the AEDs for the benefit of the temple committee.
