The Malaysian Healthy Ageing Society (MHAS) hosted a seminar entitled “Are You Prepared” as part of its roadshow where some 120 guests attended at Hotel NEO+ Penang.

Leading the team was founder Professor Nathan Vytialingam and president Professor Dr Shahrul Bahyah Kamaruzzaman and their team.

The tour is part of the society’s nationwide programme.

Among the speakers were Dr. Sangeeta Kaur, Dr Dandaithapani Thyagarajan, Datin Ranuga Devy, Dr Wong Teck Wee, Mr Alvin Seah, Dr Loo Lay Khoon, Dr Alan Ch’ng and Dr Low Chung Ming.

The topics discussed were Stress Management, Intimacy In the Older Person, Protecting Your Loved One – Will Writing, Maintaining a healthy heart, Clean environment for healthy living, How to boost your memory and prevent dementia among others.

The MHAS is supported by Duopharma Biotech to promote healthy ageing among Penangites and support the community towards ageing gracefully.

MHAS was founded in 2002 and has continuously educated the community with a team of experts in their respective fields.

The gathering is also in line with Penang state government’s Vision 2030 which includes a component for the ageing society and their well-being.

Lending presence at the event was State Exco for Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning YB Jagdeep Singh Deo.

He also met and briefed those gathered at the event and took part in a lively Q&A session.

Meanwhile, MHAS will also host the 3rd ASEAN Ageing Conference in Penang next year where some 500 participants from the region are expected to attend.

MHAS also welcomes corporates donors to help fund its activities and to benefit the society and the community at large.

In response to the seminar,  Dato Gulab Mahatam Rai, the general manager of the hotel added that he will also propose a similar session especially for hotel general managers in Penang.

“Considering our job is also a high pressure function, surely the participants stand can pick up a tip or two to be more healthy,” he said.
