In their effort to promote tourism among coffee lovers, Tourism Malaysia launched its “Northern Malaysia Coffee Experience” and to promote cafes, coffee shops and also spas.
The outlets in Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak are also popular for their coffee and various traditional spas.
On hand to launch the event was the Tourism Malaysia Director, Dato Zainuddin Abdul Wahab at the UAB Building in Georgetown, Penang.
Also present was Tourism Malaysia Northern Director Shahrul Aman Sabir Ahmad and his deputy Siti Hajar along with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Penang Director Jonathan Freddy Bagang, Tourism Perak chief executive officer, Nurmalis Musa among others.
“Coffee lovers will also enjoy a discount of 10% while patronising these outlets. This campaign will be held from today (Dec 2).
“There will also be a gastronomic and spa segment to this package. In all, there are some 15 packages for travelers to choose from. The packages range from RM95 toRM450 per person for 3 days and 2 nights.
“Guests can also enjoy the 10% discount at these selected spas and coffee outlets. Among them are those like Kilang Kopi Antong in Taiping, Sik, Kangar, Ngopi outlet in Fort Cornwallis among others,” he said.
Meanwhile, as part of the project a two-day gathering of coffee enthusiasts will be held at the Hin Bus on Dec 10 and 11, 2022.
Dubbed “Kopi dan Irama”, the showcase will offer 53 booths and music from Thailand and Indonesia. The event is being organised by Rizal Shamsuddin from Bricklin Cafe Bar by Rasta Brew Co.
Among the sponsors are Hotel NEO+ Penang represented by their general manager Dato Gulab Mahatab Rai, F&N represented by Thompson Chuah and Hin Bus among others.
Meanwhile, among the operators involved in the programme is Ngopi brand coffee led by their Business development director, Christine Gabrielle Bong.
“We have an outlet at Fort Cornwallis and hope to expand to Kuala Lumpur soon. We actually originated from Perlis where we have two outlets and hope to showcase our products to the whole country in the near future.
“I am also very happy to see the active promotion of coffee drinking culture by Tourism Malaysia,” added Christine.
Meanwhile, local spa brand Teratak Spa was led by its director, Liz Othman and her team at the event.
