The 8th edition of BE@Penang organized by the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) kicked off at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre in Bayan Lepas today.
More than 200 delegates and speakers are attending the two-day gathering.
The theme for this year is “BE Reinvents,” which embodies a powerful call to action for participants to embark on a transformative journey.
Present to launch the occasion was State Exco for Tourism & Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai who was accompanied by PCEB chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran.
Also present was Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Penang chairman Dato Tony Goh, MAH national vice president, Dato Khoo Boo Lim, Francis Teo of Setia SPICE Convention, Noorazzurdin Omar, general manager of Amari SPICE Penang among others.
The delegates are from the Asia Pacific region and across the globe.
In his address, Wong welcomed guests and speakers at the conference and expressed his pleasure of seeing familiar faces.
“This conference provides a unique platform to delve into the latest trends and innovations, thereby shaping the trajectory of our field.
“The future of the business events industry holds immense promise, propelled by technological advancements, evolving customer behavior and global connectivity,” said Wong.
Earlier, Ashwin added that in a rapidly evolving business landscape, the new theme resonates with the need for innovation, adaptation, and a fresh perspective.
“Participants of the conference can anticipate an experience that goes beyond the ordinary, offering insights and strategies to navigate the ever-changing dynamics of the business events industry,” said Ashwin.
Distinguished keynote speaker, Julius Solaris, consistently recognized as one of its most influential figures shared a wealth of experience and keen understanding of industry trends.
