Some 30 underprivileged children from the Jelutong constituency will celebrate Hari Raya in a grand way.
This is after several legislators from the Jelutong constituency led by YB RSN Rayer embarked on a corporate social responsibility initiative to help the needy community.
Joining the Member of Parliament for Jelutong was the state assemblyman for Batu Lanchang, Ong Ah Tiong and assemblywoman for Sungai Pinang, Lim Siew Khim.
In all, some 30 shortlisted children from primary and secondary children were taken for their raya shopping at the Mydin Supermarket along Penang Road here.
Also present was Azmin Saduruddin executive director of Mydin Malaysia who was seen helping the children and parents choose their clothes.
Meanwhile, The children were allocated a sum of RM100 each to do their raya shopping. They were seen happily choosing their baju raya, songkok, and shoes.
Rayer added that they have spent over RM60,000 in his constituency for various charity programmes like back to buka puasa gatherings, school initiatives, food baskets and other assistance for the needy community.
“Due to the Covid-19 many people have been impacted by either losing their jobs or due to no income to care for their families. We hope that our CSR programme today can in a way help them celebrate Hari Raya,” added Rayer.
