The Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Penang Chapter’s annual general meeting saw veteran hotelier Tony Goh being elected to the chairmanship.
He will serve the term for 2022 – 2025.
Goh is the general manager of The Wembley – A St Giles Hotel Penang and Cititel Express Penang here.
He will be assisted by two vice-chairmans, Ben Ho (Lexis Suites Penang)and Kevin Cheah (Iconic Hotel).
The Honorary Secretary is John Kim (Mei Hotel) with the Treasurer being Dennis Lee (Royale Chulan Penang).
The committee members comprise of Dennis Cheng (Jazz hotel), Amran Taib (Royal Hotel), Melvin Ooi (Prestige Hotel, Steven Suffian (Hompton Beach Hotel Penang) Datuk T H Lim (Tien Hotel Group) and Punitha Mary (Travelodge Penang).
Meanwhile, the Internal auditor is Lynne Choong (Bayview Hotel Georgetown).
Lending support to the annual general meeting was Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Yeoh Soon Hin.
In his address, Yeoh said that he was delighted to be back at the annual general meeting in 2022.
“We should all be united, strengthening the bond among hotels and tourism players, working towards achieving the goals for the betterment of the Penang state generally and in the tourism industry specifically.
“We welcome the announcement of Malaysia’s international borders reopening on April1, 2022.
“We know that the competition globally to attract tourism will be more challenging than ever. To this end, my office and Penang Global Tourism have started to roll out the negotiations with several airlines.
Penang Hyperlocal congratulates Goh on his chairmanship and is confident that he will bring MAH Penang Chapter to greater heights in view of the international borders reopening from April 1, 2022.
