Gathering of devotees for the 3 in a celebrations at Tzu Chi Centre in Penang

Some 2,600 participants took part in a 3 in 1 celebration organised by the Buddhist Tzu Chi Merits Society in Penang at their centre along Jalan Macalister yesterday (Sunday).

The gathering was to celebrate Buddha Day, 57th anniversary of the association and also Mother’s Day.

More impressively, was the organization and teamwork of the Tzu Chi workers who had planned the gathering precisely. Plus all of them were volunteers.

From the people parking their cars, directing them to the centre and also queueing up at their places, performing the prayer ceremony and also preparing for any emergency, everything was on the mark.

The one hour ceremony was also telecast live to all over the world as similar prayers were also carried out simultaneously around the globe.

Northern Region Tzu Chi Commissioner, Dato Khoo Boo Leong and his team were on hand to ensure everything runs clockwise.

“Unlike previous years when we had gathered some 10,000 people at Batu Kawan stadium, we decided to hold a smaller gathering due to safety and health concerns.

“This is especially since Covid-19 is still around and we wanted to ensure the devotees’ health is not compromised. All of the devotees had to also wear masks,” he said.

The devotees also performed rites which were symbolic to the bathing of Lord Budhha. The event started at 7am sharp and ended at 8am.
