The Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merits Society Malaysia contributed 75,950 surgical masks, 26,845 face shields, 2,600 medical gloves, 1,410 medical gowns and 1,501 face mask sleeves.

Most of the items were distributed to private and government clinics in the state.

They also donated distributed 4,037 hot meal packets to the needy, 118 foldable beds and supported a total of 3,747 underprivileged families from March 17 to 31, 2020.

The society’s commissioner, Khoo Boo Leong said that they have also provided food and personal hygiene materials like tooth brush, toothpaste, soap, towels, hand sanitizers and shampoo to the homeless and street urchins housed at the Kompleks Masyarakat Penyayang along Jalan Utama here.

“Those housed at the centre will also get vegetarian meals three times a day and water from the dispensers installed there.

“We are also making our own face shields at the homes of our volunteers and intend to support the community until the pandemic ends,” said Khoo when contacted.
