Being the only dedicated hospital to treat Covid-19 patients, the Kepala Batas Hospital received much needed medical equipment from Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merits Society Malaysia recently.

Among the items were 10 units of Powered Air-Purifying Respirator (PAPR) and 15 units of Twin Oxygen Flow Meters.
Leading the team was Tzu-Chi Commissioner, Dato Khoo Boo Leong.

Present to receive the visitors was Kepala Batas Hospital director, Dr Norhasimawati bte Abdul Mutalib.

A brief handing over ceremony concluded the occasion.

“We are grateful for the assistance from Tzu-Chi and it means a lot to the morale of the frontliners.

“We have some 199 beds to treat covid-19 patients mainly in the stage 4 and 5 cases. Not only the elderly are being affected but also those in the 20s,” said Dr Norhasimawati.

She also added that about 45% of the cases require oxygen since the past two weeks.

“Tzu-Chi strives to support hospitals and frontliners in the fight against Covid-19.

“In the words of Master Cheng Yen, it is better to give than to receive and when giving we must always give without expectation of anything in return,” said Khoo.

Previously, they have also presented water dispensers and other medical equipment to the hospital.

Kepala Batas Hospital is the only one in Penang dedicated 100% for Covid 19 cases.

Tzu Chi has again risen to the occasion to donate much needed supplies to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
