In a bid to ensure reliable and constant supply of electricity to Penang, a RM500 million project will be implemented by Tenaga Nasional Malaysia (TNB) to this effect.

Present at the launch ceremony was Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, State Exco for Transport and Infrastructure Zairil Khir Johari, TNB chief executive officer Datuk Baharin Din among others.

Through this project, TNB will offer direct connection from the national grid to Penang for 2,000 megawatts.

Chow said that this TNB project will surely help boost the state’s future development and growth. 

“Without ample supply of electricity, we can only plan and strategize ideas for big projects in Penang but cannot fulfil them without ample power supply,” said Chow at the ceremony at the Light Hotel yesterday.
