The popular Sri Ananda Bahwan (SAB) outlet along Macalister Road has gone high-tech with the appointment of four robots to deliver your food and drinks to your table.
The robots are tasked to deliver your food right to your table in view of the pandemic still persisting among the community.
“Many customers are amazed to see the robots moving around the restaurant to deliver the orders. They have been also programmed to avoid customers while on their delivery since they are equipped with sensors.
“They have voice activation to remind people on SOPs of following safety measures like wearing masks and using sanitisers. They can also sing birthday songs for those celebrating and sing karaoke numbers,” said outlet manager Rajkumar Vignesh.
He also added that many guests take the opportunity to take pictures, selfies and videos with the robots.
Meanwhile, according to SAB Group director Dato V. Harikrishnan, they sought to use these robots in view of the labour shortage in the industry.
“The robots can to a certain extent help us overcome staff on the floor to provide service to customers.
“The customers are also very happy and surprised to see the robots moving around the restaurant. In the meantime, we are also looking at improving to tweek the capabilities of the robots so that they can offer more variety of services,” said Harikrishnan to Penang Hyperlocal.
He also added that the robots work on Global Positioning System (GPS) and communicate in English.
“The robots can also in a way help teach children on the use and capability of robots, ” he added.
