PSC members with the Penang Cheshire Home carollers

Christmas is coming soon and the Penang Swimming Club (PSC) is getting ready to usher-in and spread yuletide cheers with their Xmas tree lighting ceremony recently.

The brief ceremony was attended by its president Dato KH Chan, vice president Dato Dr S. Vasan, club secretary Pierre Boudville and other committee members who were in attendance.

In all, some 150 members along with their family along with the kids provided support at the evening  

Some 30 carollers from the  Penang Cheshire Home made the occasion more jolly and merry by rendering popular seasonal songs.

Chan in his brief welcoming address thanked the choir for a spirited performance.

“We are happy to host the Cheshire Home here tonight.

“We are honoured to welcome you tonight and we want to bring cheer and joy to everyone. Our Christmas tree lighting is a tradition of the club,” he added.

The carollers were also hosted to a fine buffet dinner. 

Meanwhile, club captain Walvin Labrooy handed over a cheque amounting to RM500 to the Cheshire Home as a gesture of appreciation.

To top up the amount further, committee member Dev Sajan Buxani who was the emcee for the night also donated RM500 towards the home as his personal donation. Members also chipped in to donate to the home’s donation boxes.

The night’s Christmas tree decorations credit goes to committee member Chan Ee lin who took valuable time out to decorate the impressive and towering 12 ft Xmas tree. 

The premier club which was founded in 1903 offering a host of sea sports and dining facilities.

It has more than 7,800 members to-date.
