The Penang State Government promises the freedom of worship and their houses of worship.

State Exco for Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning YB Jagdeep Singh Deo gave the assurance that places of worship like temples, churches, monastery, gurdwara among others will be safeguarded.

“We will ensure all communities will continue to be assisted, including for their houses of worship, whereby under our fund for places of worship other than Islam (RIBI)

“We have now contributed a sum of RM10,320,329 for 241 projects to-date apart from visiting the Sri Singamuga Kaliamman Temple at Teluk Bahang recently and the Sri Kamatchi Amman Temple at Datok Keramat for their temple procession and consecration respectively.

“We have allocated a further sum of RM50,000 to each of them under our fund,” said Jagdeep. 

Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow, YB RSN Rayer and Jagdeep visited the Sri Ramar Temple at Datok Keramat, a heritage temple dating back to 1872 to celebrate the Ughadi Heritage Festival with the Telegu community here in Penang

Another contribution of RM25,000 was presented to the temple committee for their maintenance and upkeep.
