Visitors to Penang Hill take note, the Penang Hill Funicular Service will be shut down for the 1st bi-annual scheduled maintenance for the year 2020 from Monday, Jan 6 till 14, 2020.
The service will resume service from Wednesday, Jan 15, 2020 onwards.
The scheduled maintenance will be carried out under the supervision of the funicular manufacturer (Garaventa AG from Switzerland) to ensure the funicular system is always in tip-top running condition and meet stringent safety checks.
Visitors can opt for the privately-operated jeep service from Penang Botanic Gardens, or the existing hiking routes to reach the top of Penang Hill during the shutdown period.
In a statement from Penang Hill Corporation, they also thanked all visitors for their patience and continuous support to Penang Hill. Any inconvenience caused is very much regretted.
