Jagdeep taking part in the AED assistance demonstration

With the tourism industry coming back to Penang in droves, it is also vital to ensure the safety of the tourists and also locals.

In case of any medical emergency, the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) plays an important role in saving lives.

With some 163 units of AEDs already installed throughout Penang at places of mass movement or gathering, the state is on track to install 1,000 units in time to come.

State Exco for Housing, Local Government and Town and Country Planning YB Jagdeep Singh Deo officiated yet another installation of the AED along Jalan Kuantan recently.

“This is part of Penang’s Vision 2030 of being a greener, smarter, safer and healthier will continue and we will continue with this initiative.

“I am happy to witness anotherĀ AED programme which to-date have 163 units throughout Penang,” said Jagdeep.

Also present at the ceremony was Penang Island City Council Secretary Engineer A. Rajendran.

He also joined in to demonstrate the usage of the medical equipment.

“Such installation facilities are life saving and extremely important to us in Penang and I have requested our agencies to look into increasing the numbers to 1,000 by the end of this year, including looking into all housing schemes to ensure that they have such facilities,” added Jagdeep.

Kudos to the state government for allocating more funds to these programmes which will benefit the general public and tourists overall.
