Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow who is also the state assemblyman for Padang Kota came to the rescue of residents affeted by urgent disruption of water supplies.

The residents affected were provided with a crate of mineral water (24 bottles per household) courtesy of the Chief Minister.

In the meantime, a PBA press statement read that some 2,000 residents around Jalan Burma, Jalan Larut and until the junction of Jalan Pangkor will be without water supplies for 12 hours from 9am to 0pm tomorrow, Sunday March 27, 2022. In a press statement issued by Perbadanan Bekalan Air (PBA) Pulau Pinang, among the residents affected are along  Jalan Arratoon, Jalan Salween, Jalan Clove Hall, Jalan Irrawadi, Jalan Chow Thye, Jalan Service, Gurney Drive, Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, Jalan Phuah Hin Leong, Jalan Tavoy, Jalan Imigresen, Jalan Mandalay, Jalan Loh Boon Siew, Jalan Pykett, Jalan Larut.

The water disruption also includes for the Gleneagles Hospital.

“Urgent 600mm CI water pipeline diversion works will be carried out in front of the building housing the Am Assurance and Kurnia Insurans branch offices at the junction of Jalan Burma and Jalan Arratoon.

“The purpose of the pipeline diversion works is to prevent burst pipe mishaps in the area, following the January 15, 2022 incident that resulted in a 24-hour unscheduled water supply interruption.

“An existing 600mm pipeline along Jalan Burma will be shut down from 9am till 9pm on 27.3.2022, in order for the diversion works to be carried out. This pipeline shutdown will cause a scheduled water supply interruption.

“PBAPP apologises to all affected water consumers for inconveniences caused. These urgent works are necessary to sustain continuous good water supply services at Jalan Burma and surrounding areas.

“PBAPP has informed the Padang Kota State Assemblyman’s Office,Gleneagles Hospital and the Fire Services Department about the scheduled water supply interruption on 27.3.2022.
