Harley-Davidson riders father for Pink Vroom

In aid of Penang Adventist Hospital’s (PAH) Cancer Fund, dubbed Pink Vroom, the charity programme managed to raise RM183,000, much more than the target of RM100,000 initially set.

Lending support was Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow who was on hand to officiate the unveiling ceremony.

The commendable fundraiser saw an entourage of superbikers from Harley Davidson Penang clad in pink riding from Auto City to Gurney Plaza Alfresco Area to spread awareness on the importance of early screenings for breast cancer.

This maiden partnership between Penang Adventist Hospital (PAH) and Harley Davidson Penang was also a one-of-a-kind event.

The entourage made a few pit-stops at Penang’s significant building to hand over breast cancer awareness brochures to partnering state assemblymen who will in turn distribute it to members of the public.

Pink Vroom saw the support from  State Assemblyman of Sungai Pinang, Lim Siew Khim,  Dato Ar. Yew Tung Seang, City Mayor of Pulau Pinang and State Assemblyman of Komtar Teh Lai Heng.

Through the fund, PAH helps provide medical assistance for needy patients to undergo cancer related treatment. Cancer Fund disbursed RM409,871 in 2021 and helped 19 cancer patients.

Besides continuously promoting breast cancer awareness, the hospital, with the support from a generous donor who is passionate in advocating early screening saves lives, has donated 200 free mammograms for ladies in B-40 categories.

The occasion also offered complimentary health screenings, including testing blood pressure, glucose and counselling.

The success of Pink Vroom was largely due to the support of many like-minded partners; Gurney Plaza, the venue sponsor, Harley Davidson Penang, various rider’s group such as Ladies of Harley, Harley Owners Group, Ducati Club Penang, Lady Bikers Utara, Throttles Angels, Iron Ladies Biker and Derhaka Bikers.

More importantly, they are grateful to all donors who believed in the hospital’s cause and donated generously. The hospital would not be able to raise the much needed fund to help needy cancer patients.
