In keeping with their noble aims of helping the needy and underprivileged among the community, the Penang Adventist Hospital (PAH) is organising yet another charity drive.
This time around, it is the “Spin” session.
Spinning is a form of indoor cycling exercise focusing on endurance, strength, intervals, high intensity and recovery, and involves using a special stationary exercise bicycle with a weighted flywheel in a classroom setting.
Spin for Charity is a fun Spin Ride session where participants will be spinning for 30 minutes on a SPIN bike led by popular Spin Cycle Star to raise funds for Dr. J. Earl Gardner Fund.
They hope to raise RM200,000 to provide free or subsidised medical treatment to needy patients suffering from chronic illness in areas of tumour, cleft palate repair, major limb amputation, scoliosis, stroke etc.
Spin for Charity offers 7 fun & thrilling Spin sessions led by Spin cycle stars from Peak Fitness, to the tune of K-pop, Oldies & Pop, Funky & Cool and many others.
The event promises sessions where one can have a great workout with friends and most of all, gives you a sense of community.
Apart from Spinning, the event offers complementary health screenings, including testing blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol levels, and counselling. In addition to these, there will be educational programs on health, through the “Know Your Body” program and interactive booths for the public to learn about living a healthier lifestyle.
In 2021, the Dr. J. Earl Gardner Fund disbursed more than RM480 000, and this helped more than 21 patients who were required to undergo major surgery.
This is part of the total disbursement of both medical charities and all corporate social responsibility projects in 2021, amounting to RM3.1 million, which was disbursed to help a total of 3848 beneficiaries.
