With Merdeka Day just around the corner, staff from the Penang Island City Council have just completed work on the Independence Day decorations at the foyer area at Komtar.

The best part of the project is that all materials used in the project were recycled items.

Among them were discarded cardboard, wires, plastic pipes, plastic bottles, plastic bottle caps, old tyres, PVC and many more items.

Among the figures are of “Bapak Malaysia” and first Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia’s national flower Bunga Raya, a battle tank, cannons and three figures depicting the three main races in the country.

The six-man team who worked on the project was led by Ahmad Nizuar Nordin and Xavier Sebastian, Deputy Director of Urban Services Department.

Syabas to MBPP for the unique and befitting deco.
