A Penang-based company, Green Eazy Tech Sdn Bhd has invented a “timely” machine to sterilize fabric face masks which can eventually lead to the conservation of the environment.

This will also help reduce face masks from ending up on the streets, dustbins and the earth fills.

The hybrid machine can clean and sterilize masks under 75 seconds by undergoing a steam, sterilization and drying process.

The machine is ideal for offices, hotels and factories which have large numbers of workers and have to use face masks regularly. It is so handy to transport as it can fit into a trunk of a car.

The steam process is done above 100″C while the sterilization process is done with UV-C and finally the mask is dried with hot air above 100″C.

This results in virus and bacteria being killed on the cloth masks and ready to be reused.

Co-founders Dato Li Teong Li and Peter Chung who come from an engineering background, came up with the machine after many trials and errors.

Both men, being green warriors, thought that the machine would be environmentally friendly and sustainable.

“We started working on the machine last Sept when we were posed with a challenge on how to very quickly sterilize fabric face and thus help  increase its  usage, instead of the one time use of face masks.

“The machine has gone through R&D and five generations of improvement until the latest version was put out.

“The machine carries out three basic steps to clean the cloth masks. “We are also in the process of applying for the Malaysian patent applied and pending,” said Chung.

They have also carried out the “Bacteria Filteration Efficiency” (BFE) test to ensure its safety and compliance to the Ministry of Health and WHO requirements.

They recently held a soft launch of the machine on April 13 officiated by Seberang Perai City Council mayor Dato Rozali Mohamud.

They are now renting out the machines at RM500 per month for a 18 month contract period.

Kudos to the inventors of the “Wash Easy” machine who can potentially put Malaysia on the world map again.
