A group of travel agents and media members from Jakarta, Indonesia were hosted to a familiarization (FAM) trip to Penang courtesy of the Tourism Malaysia office in Jakarta and You Wings Holidays Sdn Bhd.
The team was hosted at the Hotel NEO+ Penang which is located in the heart of Georgetown here.
Among the participants were Rex Tour, Always Tour, PT Tunggal Ika Maharja, PT Trip Terbaik Jaya, Mekar Jaya Wisata Tours, Venue Magazine and Antara News.
They were greeted personally by Hotel NEO+ Penang general Manager Dato Gulab Mahatab Rai and Norbert Vas, Vice President of Business Development, Archipelago International Indonesia who was on his visit here along with the Director of Sales & Marketing, Ms Mei Wong and their team.
“We are happy to host this tour agents group as it will further help to boost tourism among Indonesian travellers to Penang. This is part of our initiatives to add value to the tourism industry overall.
“Since the tour agents are taken to places of interest in Georgetown and introduced to our variety of cuisine, it will further benefit all stakeholders here,” said Dato Gulab to Penang Hyperlocal.
He also added that they are excited to work with Tourism Malaysia Jakarta office on more projects like this in the coming future.
The participants were taken on a tour of Georgetown, the Baba Nyonya Museum, The Top and other local attractions. Without fail, they also sampled Penang’s famous hawker fare.
Following this trip, the tour agents will also package tour trips for the benefit of Indonesian tourists planning their holiday trips to Penang. The group is familiar with Archipelago International Indonesia as they have some 160 hotels and resorts all over the country there.
The five-day trip for the group also took them to Kuala Lumpur and Genting Highlands during their trip to Malaysia.
