Friends from the hospitality industry gathered at a farewell dinner for the general manager of The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa, Rajiv Kapoor recently.

Kapoor will be taking up a new position in New Delhi soon.

Among those present was the Malaysian Association of Hotels chairman (Kedah/Perlis) chapter, Eugene Dass, Dash Resort general manager Georgios Kyrkos, Goldsands Hotel general manager, Lawrence Cheah, Berjaya Langkawi general manager, Zaharudin Abd Jalil, The Frangipani Langkawi Resort & Spa general manager, Henry Low and other friends.

Joining in the farewell was also Razmi Rahmat, who is Adya Group of Hotels and vice chairman MAH Kedah/Perlis.

Guests were treated to a fine buffet spread and later adjourned to the resort’s lobby lounge for some fine music and drinks.

Rajiv who had spent about six years at the resort was happy to be leaving the resort in a much better standing since he arrived there in 2013.

“We have wonderful staff and our business from local Malaysians, Europe, China, India, Middle East, Australia and United Kingdom are all up and still improving.

“Our resort is also popular with honeymooners and also for families get-away as we have a wonderful kids club.

“I like to emphasize “people first” and in keeping with this policy our staff have been provided with a lot of training and also due appreciation for their good work,” he added.
