“Jom! Experience Penang with Shopee” is the latest campaign towards the recovery plan of the state’s tourism industry.

The plan will surely help revive the tourism sector and support the local industry players.

On hand to launch the event was Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, Yeoh Soon Hin, Shopee Business Development Lead, Wong Chee Mun accompanied by the CEO of Penang Global Tourism at The Top yesterday.

Also present was Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH Penang chapter) chairman, Raj Kumar, Chairman of Malaysian Association Budget Hotel Association, Dato Lim Mee Lee, MAH National VP Khoo Boo Lim, National President of Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association, Dato Albert Tan, chairman of Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta Penang), Vergis Mathews, Farah Ramlee from Shopee Public Policy and Government Affairs and others.

The campaign highlights RM100 cash vouchers that can be redeemed upon the purchase of any Penang travel packages that cost RM150 and above from Nov 18 to Dec 31, 2021.

It is expected to benefit some 211 tour and travel agents along with the numerous hotels in the state.

“We are committed to put all the safety measures in place to revive Penang’s travel industry. These initiatives are the first-of-its-kind in Malaysia which are aimed to instill confidence in travellers when visiting Penang,” said Yeoh.

He also added that Shopee will surely play a vital role towards spurring domestic tourism and generating income for travel agents and hotels.
