The George Town Festival returns with its 11th edition this year from July 11 to 26, 2020 with more brand new exciting features.

This is following a meeting between Jack Wong, the Festival Director of George Town Festival 2020 and state exco for Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage, Yeoh Soon Hin.

The organising team for George Town Festival 2020 had paid a courtesy call on Yeoh recently to finalize all the programs in George Town Festival 2020.

During the meeting, Yeoh shared his view on George Town Festival 2020 to be more inclusive and local community engagement.

He also mentioned that the George Town Festival 2020 will bring more programs to mainland.

Initiated by the Penang State Government and fully supported by the City Council of Penang Island (MBPP), George Town World Heritage Incorporated (GTWHI) and Penang Global Tourism (PGT), George Town Festival is now an international superstar.

“With a focus on the wide-ranging arts and cultural programmes that make George Town Festival a leading arts and culture festival in Asia, this Festival invites visitors to experience Penang’s diversity through the state’s creative offerings — in line with the ‘Experience Penang 2020’ tourism campaign,” said Yeoh.

He also confirmed that the theme for George Town Festival 2020 will continue be “A Festival for Everyone” that will be a festival opened to all segments of community and celebrates Penang’s diverse arts and cultural heritage encompassing visual art, theatre, music, dance, film, photography and more.

In addition to the classic mainstays like ‘When Night Falls’, ‘Art in the City’ and ‘The Extravaganza’, there will be pre-Festival pop-up performances, community engagement programmes, ticketed shows, exhibitions, installations, talks, sharing sessions and more.
