In view of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the state and the country, Penang Chief Minister, Chow Kon Yeow called on the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKKAV) to ensure the number of vaccine doses to the state.

“In July we received around 700,000 plus doses but in August we do not know the number yet.

“Deliveries in the month of July have been very good and we hope that vaccine deliveries will be the same for August.

“In the meantime, we are conducting mass screening to identify and isolate cases,” said Chow at a press conference near Komtar today.

Also present at the press conference was state exco for Housing, Local Government and Town & Country Planning, Jagdeep Singh Deo, Penang Island City Council Mayor Dato Yew Tung Seang and Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng among others.

Meanwhile, Jagdeep added that the mass screening exercise is being carried out relentlessly to ensure as many people are tested.

He also urged the general public to come forward to attend the mass screening initiatives.
