With the Year of the Metal Rat in the Chinese lunar calendar fast approaching, hotels are gearing up to cater for the all important reunion dinner and family gatherings in Penang.
The rat is the first sign of the 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac, making this
year a time for renewal. It promises fresh starts for an abundance of prosperity, success and fortune.
The Hard Rock Hotel Penang will offer an array of delicious Chinese, Oriental and Fusion cuisines on the eve of Chinese New Year and Chinese New Year day at Starz Diner, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant.
Chinese New Year Eve buffet dinner is priced at RM180 nett per adult whilst Chinese New Year buffet luncheon is priced at RM150 nett per adult. Children aged 6 to 12 years old will have the privilege to dine at half price.
In celebration of the significant Chinese festival, a vibrant lion dance performance will take over the lobby on the first day of Chinese New Year, 25 January 2020. Hard Rock Hotel Penang has also lined-up a series of fun-filled activities for its in-house guests on the eve of Chinese New Year and the first day of Chinese New Year including family lantern making, sumo wrestling by the poolside, a pillow fight and canoe challenge in the swimming pool, vibe dances with the hotel’s Vibe Team and more.
The celebratory feasts invite guests to bond with their loved ones while indulging in the chef’s signature dishes from a combination of Hot and Cold Platters to sumptuous Chinese main dishes, assorted dim sums, a selection of delicately crafted Japanese bites, action stations – Yee Sang, Chinese Carving, Steamboat, Pizza and Pasta – and a widespread of sweet delicacies.

The Olive Tree Hotel marks Chinese New Year with an Eight Course Set Menu. Priced at MYR1088+; the menu features dishes like Double Boiled Chicken Soup with Sea Coconut and Dry Scallop, Steamed Sea Garoupa with Olive Pickles and Minced Meat.
For a touch of tradition, a Steamboat Set Menu at the price of RM650+ for 10 persons offers 2 types of our special blended tomato soup and fish bone soup.
