Fourteen-year-old from SMK Telok Air Tawar near here made the school, state and the nation proud for bagging a gold medal in the 16th World Muaythai Federation championship 2019 held in Bangkok on lat Saturday.

Muhammad Alif Mohd Azizi, 14, emerged as the world champion in the 45-kilogram category defeating his challenger from Uzbekistan in two sets in the famous Thai kickboxing which was participated by more than countries. 

His elder brother Muhammad Adam Azizi, 17, won the silver medal when he emerged as the first runner-up in the 54 to 57-kilogram category, he is also from the same school.   A total of nine athletics aged between 14 and 18 represented Malaysia, the event was held from March 12 to 20.

Muhammad Alif was appreciated and recognised by the school administration before the students and his parents during the Friday assembly. 

“I was excited and I felt on top of the world will excel in this sports as I have a passion for Muaythai,” he said after the event,

Telok Air Tawar assemblyman Mustafa Kamal Ahmad commended Muhammad Alif for the courage that the school, state and nation proud and urged other students to emulate Muhammad Alif to excel in sports.
