Boulder Valley Glamping Resort in Teluk Bahang here received its “3-star” rating from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) earlier today.

The resort became the first hotel or resort in Malaysia to receive a 3-star rating under the “Innovative Hotel/Resort” category by the Ministry.

Representing MOTAC was the secretary for Licensing and Enforcement Division, Roslan Mohammad, MOTAC Penang director Jonathan Freddy Bagang. Also present was the chief executive officer of Boulder Valley Glamping, Teoh Hang Ching and resort general manager P. Nagaswaran.

Lending support was the chairman of the Malaysian Association of Hotels (Penang Chapter) Tony Goh.

In the address, read by Roslan, he shared that some 304 hotels have been registered with MOTAC and 119 have been already been graded.

“Among them are 15 hotels as 5-star, 26 hotels as 4-star and 28 hotels as 3-star. The hotel industry has big potential in the country and glamping is among the growing trend among travellers and holiday-makers.

“I also wish to congratulate Boulder Valley Glamping for achieving this recognition,” he said.

Guests and media members were also taken on a tour of the spacious and luscious surroundings of the resort.

The resort offers an exceptional glamping experience among the unique boulders and tropical greens settings. Intentionally kept basic and free from over lavishness.

Their glamping tents are known to be a far cry from the DIY tent in a bag. They also offer amenities like comfortable beds and en-suite bathroom facilities.
