The town of Teluk Bahang in Penang has long been over shadowed by the illustrious Batu Ferringhi stretch which is filled with numerous hotels and resorts.

Now, the time has come for Teluk Bahang to rise up and shine with the opening of a couple of new hotels in the area.

Aptly named, Bahang Bay Hotel, the property is slotted to be the first to open in the area since the closing of the Penang Mutiara Beach Resort in 2006.

The 12-storey business and leisure hotel is expected to be opened on March 16, 2020.

The hotel is managed by Bahang Bay Sdn Bhd while the owners are Lembaga Kemajuan Wilayah Pulau Pinang (PERDA).

It’s inventory of 160 rooms in four categories, namely Deluxe Nature View, Deluxe Sea View, Executive Premier Suite and Executive Suite.

Facilities include their pillarless ballroom which can accommodate 1,100 guests (theatre style seating) and 800 pax for dinner seating.

They also house two meeting rooms to cater for 150 people for seminars and other private events.

The spacious coffeehouse can accommodate some 250 guests indoor and outdoor seating facilities.

They also house an outdoor swimming pool, gym, lobby lounge, business centre and spa.

Promotional room rates will start from RM188 nett.

“We aim to cater for government, corporate sectors as well as Europe, Japan and the Middle East as our target markets.

“Being a Syariah friendly hotel where our food and beverage and all other operation and management will comply with the guidelines.

“With the upcoming puasa season we intend to host buka puasa promotions priced at RM68 nett with 20 % discount for early bird bookings. For every group of 10 people, they will get one complimentary,” said general manager Ieja Hindon Salleh who is also the co-founder of Bahang Bay Hotel Sdn Bhd.

She comes with more than 20 years experience in the hotel industry.

Teluk Bahang has some of the pristine beach fronts on the island and the small town offers undiscovered traditional food like udang pulut, fresh seafood, durian and other local fruits.

Guests can also take a short walk to the nearby fishing villages and take in the sights and scenery of the local folk.

By Q2 2020, the 5-star Angsana Teluk Bahang is also expected to open in Teluk Bahang.
