Penang Governor presenting duit raya to the children

The Light Hotel Penang carried out a commendable corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme to host some 200 children from various orphanages to a break of fast session at their ballroom.

The children were from Pertubuhan Pembangunan Anak-Anak Yatim Bekas Perajurit Malaysia, Rumah Anak-Anak Kesayangan Pulau Pinang, Pusat Jagaan Permata Kasih Alma and Pusat Jagaan Permata Kasih Jalan Jelutong. 

Lending support was the Governor of Penang Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak.

Among the VIP guests present were Tan Sri Dato Ramesh (Managing Director of The Light Hotel (M) Sdn Bhd, Penang State Secretary, Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus, Penang State Mufti, YB Sahibus Samahah Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Salim Wan Mohd Noor and Dato KK Sihabutheen Kirudu Mohamed (Executive director Light Hotel (M) Sdn Bhd).

Others were Dato Dato Uswath Khan Kirudu Mohamed Executive Director The Light Hotel (M) Sdn Bhd, Penang CPO Dato’ Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, Datuk Azhar Arshad Seberang Prai Council mayor, Dato Ustaz Shamsuri Ahmad (Chairman Pelita Pelita Samudra Pertama (M) Sdn Bhd, Azhar Mohammad (Chairman The Light Hotel (M) Sdn Bhd), Naresh Tan Sri Dato’ Ramesh (Director The Light Hotel (M) Sdn Bhd), Sharath Tan Sri Dato’ Ramesh (Director The Light Hotel (M) Sdn Bhd) and Raj Kumar, general manager of the Light Hotel Penang.

The children ranged from the ages of six to 17 years.

They were feted with the best dishes of the Light Hotel’s food and beverage team headed by Chef Muru.

The kids were also presented with a duit raya of RM100 each.

“We could not have such gatherings due to the pandemic. This year we have held this gathering in a grand manner to show care for the children and their caretakers,” said Dato  Sihabutheen.

Meanwhile, Raj Kumar added that seeing the cost of living has drastically risen, the homes depend solely on donations from companies and NGOs.

“Seeing the smiles on the faces of the children serves as a reminder to us to always practice compassion and be mindful of our blessings,” he added.

The Light Hotel Penang hopes to bring beautiful memories for the children with the sumptuous spread and experience during the holy month of Ramadan.
